March
March was actually pretty productive! I am digging further into calligraphy, and managed to get outside with some friends on a warm morning to paint crocuses. There are plenty of distractions between setting up a garden and all the vaccination commotion. Spring is definitely in the air!

Scrabble tiles are painted with coffee, a first for me.

I finally sorted through my watercolor pans and made one big color key. That should make color selection much easier when heading outdoors for plein air sessions.

I got a bit carried away with calligraphy sea creatures after making the octopus card (on a later slide...)

And a bee

And practice bunnies for Easter cards...

One thing led to another, and I finally had to break down and acquire this book. Wow, one can go to seriously brave, new worlds with this stuff! Huge entertainment value at the very least.

Some of the cards I made this month (including the afore-mentioned octopus).

This was a cute card idea from ThePostmansKnock.com: an armoire that you open to read your message.

Progress was made on the Travel Sketchbook. I finally finished the Florence map.

And I decided to add a couple of the lithographs I did (a sepia version is on the portfolio page of this site). Here is the Duomo in blue.

Likewise, Ponte Vecchio in blue. I like having them included in this book. It makes me feel a bit like Bilbo Baggins writing his memoir...

I also moved on into Venice. I thought it would be good to include a map of all the regions in Italy to provide more context.

I'm working on a wallpaper page for the opening spread for the Venice section. The glass "candy" is from the island of Burano.
