February
The February calendar was fun: used gouache for first time in decades, researched henna patterns, and learned a new font for my fancy French writing. The map of Florence (in my travel sketchbook) is not finished, but I made a fair amount of progress. Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain lessons faltered a bit when I hit aging body limitations (haha), but I will persevere. I’m having a ball making my own cards, but should mention these are not my own original ideas... all part of my calligraphy journey with thepostmansknock.com.

Calligraphy map of the state of Maine. "Lasso" font, which clearly shows me as the novice I am with calligraphy... we all start somewhere.

(Unfinished) Map of the high points (to me) from my trip to Florence. In my travel sketchbook.

A small flock of Valentine's Day butterflies was set loose on the US Postal Service.

Drawing exercise using Romanesco broccoli as a model

Another drawing exercise on Valentine's Day

Yet another... nice sneakers.

One of my best friends during the month of February.

Less successful drawings, but still soldiering on...

Sister birthday card

Place markers for the table... more practice ("Circus" lettering)

Another sister's birthday card.
